BodyJoy is a 1-hour class mixing dance cardio, strength/resistance training, and dynamic stretching. These 3 parts cover 13 major muscle groups and work together to make us toned, strong and limber using sound, science-based technique.
But what makes us different from other programs is our group dynamic! We're parents, students, professionals, mentors, caretakers...real people - and we bring real energy, fun, and friendship to the group. We don't just exercise together. We laugh, grow and evolve together, all while building a foundation of fitness, happiness and health.
Fitness fads come and go, but nothing gets us motivated to move like music. Not only is dance exercise a great cardiovascular workout, it promotes weight loss, helps prevent dementia, reduces stress, and releases loads of mood-boosting endorphins.
We get our heart-rate pumping and the dance floor jumping with fun and easy-to-learn routines that are good for the body, mind, and soul.
Strength-training increases bone density, reduces visceral belly fat, helps manage blood sugar levels, and keeps us strong and powerful- just to name a few of the benefits.
But you don't have to hoist a huge load of weights in the air or break your back on a machine. We use hand weights, resistance bands, and bodyweight exercises to get strong, toned and healthy.
Ahhhhh....stretching!
Stretching increases mobility and balance, helps lubricate our joints and improves posture. After each powerful strength or cardio segment we take time to add in an equal amount of stretches to restore oxygen to our muscles and aid in a quicker recovery.
And once we've done the work, we finish with a generous amount of stretching to cool down, protect our joints, increase our range of motion, and let our brains know it's time to send out those feel-good chemicals that relax us and reduce stress levels.
